Connection the common thread of matchmaking NFF x BMIM

Buma Music in Motion and the Netherlands Film Festival (NFF) are both committed to making meaningful connections between the film and music sectors. They do this, among other things, with matchmaking sessions such as Script & Score and REwriteIT. Once again, connection was the common thread in both sessions!

NFF x BMIM Script & Score

Script & Score 2023

As a starting composer it can be difficult to connect with filmmakers in the Netherlands. The matchmaking session Script & Score during the Netherlands Film Festival supported them in this. Before the writers and directors were paired with up-and-coming composers, the composers followed a program, in which they prepared a musical pitch based on a script. The main goal? Connect with the filmmakers during the speed dates.

Meet the composers

“Working on a musical pitch allows me to continue practicing building a world in music. And even though there may not be a direct collaboration, the practice and meeting filmmakers and other composers is certainly worth it.”

REwriteIT 2023

REwriteIT also provided connections! This time between national and international film professionals and composers. Within REwriteIT, in 11 months screenwriters received (mini) treatments and master classes. During the Holland Film Meeting at the NFF, four composers met these film products from Holland Film Meeting (the international showcase platform for the Dutch film industry) and CineSud REwriteIT residency.

Meet the composers

“Although it is still very early for the project, it is good that we strengthen each other’s network in this way. This way I get to know which projects are being developed, and they get to know me as a composer.”
