Join us for an engaging panel discussion on immersive audio, where industry experts Richard Burki (Future Phonic Studios) and Koos Zwaan (Inholland University of Applied Sciences /International Music Industry Lab) will dive into the transformative journey of the (media) music industry, highlighting the pivotal role of technology and the creative possibilities it unlocks.

This thought-provoking session will explore how the industry has evolved in response to challenges like Covid-19, how the industry adapts the new challenges and opportunities in a post Covid-19 world and how it has embraced emerging technologies to redefine the way we experience (film) music.

Our panelists will also discuss the pioneering artists and screen composers who are shaping the future of music through immersive and spatial audio, AI, VR, AR, avatars, and more. Topics include also: examination of key technological milestones that reshaped the media music industry, envisioning the music industry of tomorrow, predictions for how technology will continue to shape music creation and consumption and more. Koos Zwaan

Koos Zwaan

Associate Professor, Inholland University of Applied Sciences, NL

Koos Zwaan is an associate lecturer at the Creative Business knowledge center of Inholland University of Applied Sciences. Since 2020, he has been responsible for the Innovation in the International Music Industry professorship. This professorship focuses on the question of how to innovate in a sustainable way in the music industry. He is also lab lead of the International Music Industry Lab (IMI Lab), where issues surrounding a sustainable, inclusive and healthy music industry are central. Creative new concepts are developed in co-creation with professional partners. In the autumn of 2022, Inholland, together with the Pop Coalition, started formulating a new research and innovation agenda for the pop music sector. Koos is the driving force and main researcher within this project.

Richard Burki

Composer/ Producer/ Engineer, Future Phonic Studios, NL

Richard Burki is a Grammy Certified Dutch/Bulgarian music producer, sound designer, audio engineer, and founder of Future Phonic Studios renowned for producing 3D auditory experiences for music, theatre, film, virtual and augmented reality as well as location based experiences and venues.

Burki’s distinctive approach to mixing in 3D formats such as Auro-3D, Dolby Atmos and Sony 360 RA has become widely recognised and Future Phonic Studios; a verified and recommended service partner for the likes of UMG, WMG, Deutsche Grammophon and Spinnin Records, has garnered cumulative streams in excess of 3 billion plays.
