In her first film, Cabaret Card, a hybrid documentary currently in development, she explores the intersection of jazz and justice as a space where improvisation, social critique, and art converge. Between the 1940s and 1960s, a Cabaret Card was required to perform in U.S. clubs. This permit became a tool to silence jazz musicians and political activists. Julie van der Meiden
Creative, Born05 | part of ACE, NLAbout thirty years ago, bert Heerink had a downright summer hit. The song was used – as was common – as the soundtrack for an iconic Heineken commercial. That’s how it reached the ear of my parents, who were at that moment looking for a name – mine. That’s how I got my name and why my birth card was adorned with a red Heineken star. That’s the power of music: it makes a brand, creates culture and sometimes even can inspire a name. At Born05, we build brands, create campaigns and online content. From setting the mood in a TVC or ear-catching brand assets; music is one of the opportunities to stand out.
