Gijs Friesen is a composer and sound designer with extensive experience in the media since 2003. He has worked in various roles (composer, audio engineer, sound designer, and head of audio) on productions for BNR, Spotify, FD, Rituals, NPO Luister, AVROTROS, Audiohuis, and many others.
Since 2020, he has primarily focused on composing music and creating sound design for media productions such as podcasts and commercials. Gijs distinguishes himself as a composer with a unique approach to sound. With his background in sound design, he sees music not simply as an interplay of instruments, but as a broader set of sounds that (co-)tells a story and can direct the viewer’s or listener’s focus.
He has collaborated on various productions that have received awards and nominations, including the Dutch Podcast Awards and the ADCN Awards.
