Composer Roy Bemelmans writes music in a style that lends itself pre-eminently to supporting images. As an alumnus of the UCLA Film Scoring Program, the ASCAP Film Scoring Workshop and the Berlinale Talent Campus, and through his experiences as an assistant to Andrea Morricone (son of Ennio Morricone), among others, he has learned a lot about composing for film. Yet Bemelmans composes purely on instinct and considers himself an autonomous composer who also writes film music. His work, which can be described as subtle, reflective and honest, fits best in the drama, thriller and documentary genres. Bemelmans’ most recent projects are the youth drama series “De Studio’s” for VRT and Amazon Prime, and the Irish short film “Mycelium”, a story about a mother and daughter who try to survive ten times from the Irish famine in 1847.
