Marlene Dirven

As a beginning film composer, Marlene is eager to collaborate with filmmakers to take a project further. She would like to suggest music to the images that the director has in mind or has already shot, to think together about how the texture of the instruments can enrich the story and smooth out scene transitions. Marlene has experience in composing for cello, piano, voice and string quartet, but is also always looking to incorporate new sounds that fit the mood of the film in question. As such, she has experimented with electronically distorting classical instruments and working with non-musical sounds. In the links she has added two pieces that she considers her ‘natural’ style: minimalist, melancholic and playful in form.
