Dimitra is a talented composer, originated from Greece and now based in the Netherlands. She has been working as a film composer for the past few years, having already collaborated with directors in both Greece and the Netherlands. She was born in Athens, and grew up there. She has played piano since a very young age, and attended the musical Middle and High School of Alimos, in Athens. She then went on to study Musicology in the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. She has a master’s degree in Systemic Musicology and a diploma in classical piano performance. Furthermore, she has a diploma for Early Music Composing (Fugue) and has studied classical harmony and counterpoint for years.

While piano is her first love and instrument, she has also taken lessons in accordion, oboe and violin. She is always interested to learn something new, expand her musical knowledge.

She has written music for performances and installations with visual media. Her debut work in the film industry was with greek director Yorgos Linardos on his graduation film, Lovehaters (2022), and they have since started a collaboration on his next projects and visions. Her most recent work includes a short fiction film, De Anatomie van een Meermin, which premiered at the Keep an Eye film festival in July 2024; also several short animation films that debuted in Zwolle in the end of June 2024. As a film composer she has worked on several genres of films, from social dramas to experimental horror films.
