Roundtable: Who Decides What AI Can Learn?

Hotel Arena, Nº3 — Part of BMIM Special 2025
This activity has already taken place.

The rise of AI in the music industry does not only come with creative questions, it also brings up a lot of ethical and legal questions. In this roundtable we focus on one urgent questions: can broadcasters use their existing music archives as trainingdata for AI models? Broadcasters have a huge collection of music for film, television, radio and online media.

But who owns this use of music? And what does it mean for composers, musicians and right holders. We also talk about ownership of the output from those AI models. Which agreements do we need to make to make this use legit? How transparent should use of this trainingdata be?

About Roundtables
Gather at these intimiate roundtables that focus on having conversations. How do you stay mentally fit in a fast-pace sector? Who decides what AI uses for training? Or how do you stay visible and claim your own place in the industry. No panel with talking heads, but equal conversations with makers, experts and other professionals. You can apply for these conversations during BMIM Special.
