How do we ensure fair representation in an industry that remains largely homogeneous? Are there structural barriers that prevent diverse voices from entering or thriving? And how can we actively support and empower new talent? Recent findings from the Celluloid Ceiling report show a troubling trend: in 2024, women made up just 9% of composers on the 250 top- films, a drop from 14% in 2023. 90% of those films had no women composers at all.
Interestingly, when at least one woman directed the film, the number rose to 14%, compared to only 7% on films with exclusively male directors. In this roundtable we come together to reflect on these numbers, share lived experiences, and explore how the industry can foster a more inclusive and equitable future.
