Listening lies at the heart of the work of composer, cellist, and singer Hildur Guðnadóttir, the associate artist of this edition of the Holland Festival. As she puts it: “Music can reach our deepest selves. It can transform the space we inhabit, our mood, and who we are.”
In collaboration with the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, the Holland Festival is organizing a special meeting between Hildur and young creators and students. From the BMIM network, we have the opportunity to nominate ten young talents to attend. Are you under 30 and at the start of your career? Then you’ll have the chance to meet Hildur Guðnadóttir in person and, together with students from the Conservatorium van Amsterdam, engage in a conversation with her. After the talk, we will attend a rehearsal of one of the performances Hildur is presenting during the festival. The meeting will take place on Monday, June 22; the exact time and location will follow.
As a warm-up, we would like to recommend Passing Remark on Sunday, June 21: a free listening experience in Westerpark, where dozens of brass players from conservatories perform new work by Hildur in collaboration with Het Muziek, while the audience is free to move among the musicians.
Want to hear and see more of Hildur Guðnadóttir? A true highlight is the monumental live performance of the Emmy Award–winning music for the iconic HBO series Chernobyl on Saturday, June 20 at the Gashouder. On Tuesday, June 23 and Wednesday, June 24, she will perform and sing her new album Where To From at the Muziekgebouw. Her compositions are even more impressive live.
Are you under 30, at the start of your career, and interested in attending the meeting on June 22? Fill in the application form (see below), including a short motivation, by June 5. On June 10, we will inform selected participants. We look forward to your application!
Deadline to apply is 5 June, 23:59h
