Composer

Renán Zelada Cisneros

Renán Zelada Cisneros (b. 1993) is a Dutch-Venezuelan composer currently living in Barcelona, Spain. He studied at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, and the Amsterdam Conservatoire, in the Netherlands. He collaborates regularly with filmmakers internationally in both fiction and documentary films. His music has been described as discreet and moody, often relying on layers of textures and subtle sound design to underscore difficult concepts or fragile scenes.

Some of his latest projects include the documentaries Wainitai: Finding Yourself, by Peruvian filmmaker Pablo García Vizcarra, about a teenage girl growing up in an indigenous community in the Amazon, and Images From Tuvalu, by Dutch filmmaker Dylan Werkman, a social commentary about rising sea levels and the apathy of modern society towards climate change.

Together with film scores, Renán also works regularly with soloists, ensembles, as well as acousmatic music, this last one often in collaboration with his sibling Elois.
