Heather Pinkham is a California-born composer and pianist currently based in the Netherlands. She holds a Master’s in Composition from Fontys Hogeschool voor de Kunsten in Tilburg, a Master’s in Cognitive Musicology from the University of Amsterdam, a Master’s in Media Composition from ThinkSpace Education at the University of Bournemouth, and a Bachelor’s in Piano Performance and Italian Studies from the University of California, Berkeley.
Her music has been performed across Europe and the United States, including premieres with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. She recently performed her piano concerto Nowhere and No-When in New Mexico with the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra.
Heather’s compositional voice is marked by a blend of contemporary classical idioms, extended techniques, emotional nuance, and intellectual depth. She writes for orchestra, chamber ensembles, and multimedia formats, including film and games, often integrating her research in cognitive musicology to explore how music communicates across contexts.
