As nobuka, Michel van Collenburg makes lo-fi, experimental electroacoustic music. Working from a DIY mentality with tape recorders, electric guitar, (modular) synths, fieldrecordings, samples and household objects. In his work he often lets moments of stillness collide with chaos.
Nobuka’s musical influences include: Ryuichi Sakamoto, Steve Reich, Jonny Greenwood, Mica Levi, KMRU, Kali Malone and Claire Rousay. Beyond music he is inspired by the works of Daido Moriyama, Haruki Murakami, Charles Bukowski, Todd Field, Francesca Woodman and many more.
He is currently working on a new album to be released this spring, which is both a sound diary of sorts, as well as a love letter to Berlin.
