After this year’s collaboration with The Third Character project at the WSA Film Music Days in Ghent, we’re happy to announce the continuation of this collaboration during MCM in Marseille. The project gives composers the opportunity to meet duos of producers and directors who are working on a film project. It’s the perfect way for composers, directors and producers alike to build a network and to find common creative ground. Collaborations born out of these meetings have the opportunity to apply for financial support for the score through authors’ rights organisations Sabam, Sacem and Buma Music in Motion (BMIM) (only for member composers).

Timeline
- 16 December – 13 January 23:59h: Call for composers
- Mid-February: Composers receive information about selection.
- 27 – 28 March: Encounters in Marseille, where composers will pitch music written specifically for the film projects / selected scenes.
The Third Character project is a unique initiative developed by Festival International Music & Cinema Marseille (MCM) and Sacem, and is annually organized in Marseille during MCM and in Ghent as part of the WSA Film Music Days.
Participants pay for and arrange their own travel, hotel, transport and refreshments. In support, you will receive a small financial contribution to cover part of this. Accreditation for the program and networking events will be provided by Music & Cinema Marseille.
